Becca's Blog and Tips for Your Trip

Tucked into the foothills of the great Appalachian Mountains near the town of Ellijay, Georgia is a 100 acre farm owned by Marvin (Pop) Pritchett and his family.

Many years ago, Pop had a dream of growing big, beautiful and healthy apples to share with friends and family. He worked for lots of years towards this goal. In 1965, Pop planted his first apple trees on the farm and the Red Apple Barn became a reality soon afterwards.

But back then, the Red Apple Barn was a tiny building with no restroom! My how times have changed! But the atmosphere is still the same-hardworking people doing a job they love and sharing that love with our customers. Pop has grown the business into what it is today by keeping his spirit humble and remembering to thank God for all his blessings. He really enjoys growing quality produce that he can sell at a reasonable price and treating his customers as he would want to be treated-with dignity and a smile!

On the farm, Pop has around 1000 apple trees and 300 peach trees in the orchards. In the past few years, people from all over the USA and even people from other countries have been having fun riding to the orchard in the tour wagon and getting to pick their own apples. Barn parties, picnics and even a class reunion have taken place there! Visitors seem to really appreciate the laid-back easy going attitude and the natural surroundings. We really enjoy watching everyone having a relaxed and happy time just being with nature.

So, next time you have a little free time and want to share some quality time with friends or family, come enjoy the farm, you’ll be glad you did!
